Senior Resource Center

Between Blackstone and Freeway 41, Fresno

In 2001 the Fresno Madera Agency on Aging purchased the former Sierra Hospital building and the 64,000-square-foot, four-story building was converted into the Senior Resource Center. The facility houses several governmental agencies that provide essential services to the aged, disabled and blind.

Following major remodeling, during the summer of 2002, the operators of the HVAC system could not maintain temperatures on the fourth floor within the comfort range. In addition, administrators believed energy costs were exceptionally high. In early 2003, they contacted Patton Air Conditioning for recommendations.

Following a detailed analysis by Patton’s service technicians, the company proposed improvements to reduce energy consumption and to correct the cooling problem. Immediately following completion of the improvements, energy consumption plunged. Electrical usage dropped thirty-five percent while gas consumption dropped sixty-two percent for a cost savings of $69,330 the first year.
